The Google Key is a waste of time outside of Enterprise – easy to lose, very limited use, and only fractionally more secure than something like Authy which you can have on any device.  Tom cites the example of a phishing site collecting both the password and authenticator to login to your Google account and than turning authentication – same can be done if using the physical key.
